Founder Jimmy O’Keefe and family would like to announce that the 2013 Jimmy’s Annual Old Car Picnic was the last Jimmy’s Picnic and there will be no Picnic this year.
The Picnic started in 1988 and after 25 wonderful years, we have decided to retire. What began as a small event with family and friends grew larger than we could have ever imagined. The Picnic requires months of preparation in addition to countless hours of work, and with finding the funds to cover ever-rising costs to make it happen, it has become too time- and energy-consuming for us to continue.
We want to thank everyone who has been a part of the Picnic over the years, those who have helped make it happen, who helped save it, our sponsors and donors, and those who attended. Thank you for years of incredible cars, excellent food, and fantastic times with friends and family.
Over the past 25 years, the Picnic raised tens of thousands of dollars to benefit programs that serve the Developmentally Disabled in San Francisco. We thank those organizations for the important services they provide to our community.
The Picnic will always be a very special, uniquely San Franciscan tradition and we will cherish the years of memories it helped create. Take care, and we’ll see you around the City.
